WHAT IS CULT9?

Here at CULT9, we embrace what the internet used to be.

The internet as it used to be is dying a slow, yet rapidly accelerating death. Mega tech corporations and media conglomerates have consolidated the average persons experience to the same dozen websites at most.
These corporations invest unfathomable amounts of money and manpower in designing their systems in ways that learn what keeps their users hooked on their services for the longest period of time, and extracting as much value from them as possible.

The dopamine rollercoaster of likes, followers, upvotes, comments, etc. ruins the ability to delay gratification and deteriorates attention spans. Everything from artistic expression, political ideologies and even accessibility of information is monetized.

Nothing is spared. Nothing is sacred.

The constant stream of rage bait, misinformation, fear, paranoia and uncertainty that is present on the average social media feed is radicalizing millions and destabilizing the fabric of society.

Make no mistake; this is by design.

Worst of all, these systems of censorship and sanitization hide the history of not only the internet, but humanity from us.

Too much of our shared culture and history has been left behind to rot and wither away, or is outright removed.

You can do something about this. You are not powerless.

You do not have to participate in these systems. Even if they "already know everything about you" - you are under zero obligation to continue giving anything to them. You have absolutely zero excuses.

You know that scrolling through an endless feed of the highlights of others lives and the various injustices and controversies happening daily is unhealthy. I know you can feel it.

You do not have to be a cog in this machine, and fall victim to the mental poison that is attention engineering and targeted advertising in the 21st century.

You have the ability, right now, to discover what has been taken from you, to take back your privacy, your freedom, your digital sovereignty and express yourself however you would like to.

Nothing has to stay like this. All we need is You.


In comes CULT9 - not a cult, but an internet community dedicated to the internet, and more specifically, the people using it.

Dedicated to the preservation of history and the cultural artifacts that the people of the internet have created.

Dedicated to freedom of information, no matter the source.

And most importantly, we are here to fight for the former Internet that was stolen from the generations which find the current day Internet ubiquitous in their lives.
